Advance your career: Get an official RBT Credential

How does someone become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)? In order to receive an RBT credential from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 6 requirements must first be fulfilled.

An individual must be at least 18 years old, have a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and have completed a specific 40 hours of RBT Training Curriculum.

In addition, In order to take the RBT Testing Center Examination, the person must also have a cleared background check and a Competency Assessment completed by a BCBA- Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Its important to note the last 3 requirements to becoming an RBT, because there is only one school that includes these requirements in their program. ATCC’s Autism Therapy Program is the only coursework available that includes the Criminal Background Check and Competency Assessment required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board to get the RBT credential.

So, if you see any other RBT coursework advertised, it was likely designed for someone who already has a job as an ABA therapist. This person would then access the background check and competency assessment through their work.

It’s quite remarkable that ATCC is the only school that can take you from being completely outside of the field of ABA, give you every single BACB requirement to become an RBT, and hold your hand through the process of starting your new career as an Autism Therapist. And now, they even have an Online-Distance Autism Therapy Program that can be completed from anywhere!
